Occasionally I like, oh lets not kid ourselves I LOVE having knitting visitors.  Lucky for me Mr. Tempted and DD are good with it too.  This past weekend THE Knit Girllls (Laura and Leslie), Sara and Jessica all came to stay.  We had such a great time together.  An incredible amount of fiber was spun and yarn knitted but most of all there was a whole lot of laughter and fun.

The first evening everyone was here we had the most amazing summer rain that cooled everything down enough that we could really enjoy the deck.  I am so amazed at how much knitting got done this weekend.

Now doesn't this look like a good time?  I have been acquanted with all of these girls for 3 years but this weekend we really got to know eachother. First thing we learned is that Jessica loves guacamole.  I think I might have overplanned the food because day 2 the only cooking that was done was breakfast quiche and yarn/fiber dyeing.

Day 2 included a whole lot of spinning!  We all had our wheels and it was a very relaxing and fun day.  There was just a whole lot of laughing and talking.

Knitting and spinning have brought me hours and hours of enjoyment, along with warm feet, hands and shoulders.  I have to say that the greatest benefit I have recieved from my years of knitting and spinning is the amazing friendships that I have developed.

Thanks girls for making the drive and I can't wait to do it again.

I have finally recieved the yarn for theLoopy Ewe and will be dyeing like a mad woman for the next week to catch up.  I will also be preparing for the upcoming Stringtown trunk show on August 14th.  I would love to meet anyone that can make it there.

School has started!

I know, I know I am very tardy again.  Life around the Tempted house has been a little topsy turvy lately.  Summer break is over and usually we would be sending DD off to school every morning, but this year we made a different choice, we enrolled her in Virtual Middle School.  So far it has really been fantastic, she has all A's, except for French and has completed about 1/3 of the Semester already.  My point is that it has really changed the way things happen daily around here.

I used to have my days free to dye dye dye, not so much now.  I am having to plan things a little more and not let a moment that can be used get past me.  This is not something I am very good at.  There are other issues involved, I am waiting for the shipments of 2 of my yarn bases and am crossing my fingers that they will be here in the next week or 2.

I have started a few more projects in the last few weeks.  First, DD has managed to comandere my Girasole and since I really want it back and I wanted to make this anyway I cast on "Order to Chaos" By Wendy Johnson.  I am really enjoying it!  At this point it is a dark green blob (sitting on the completed back of my "Twist").  I know you may not be able to see them very well but those are the stitchmarkers that Muriel sent me last week.  I know I am her sister, but really I do love them they don't get stuck in my yarn and have not picked at my yarn at all.

I have been a very blessed knitter this week!  Way back at the Spring Fling I took some Glam to Allen of Numma Numma, her daughters like it a lot she tells me.  Nothing really all that special just a little sparkle for her girls.  Well last week I had the chance to send her a message and she asked for my address, last friday I got 1 skein of 'The Usual' in 'Whaddaya have' and 2 skeins on a Special Edition 100%  silk in 'Black Cherry'!  Seriously, how cool is that!!!  Then, Keri of 3AM Enchantments is here for a visit and she never comes to visit without an armload of goodies.  She brought a birthday present of size 7 Signature needles.  I took that as a sign that I needed to cast on another project, the Lace Ribbon Scarf, well what would you do if you got 2 skeins of hand dyed silk and a pair of Signature needles?

Keri also made me a needle case/bag/holder.... she made me a really cool thing! Might want to keep an eye on her Etsy shop, I think I heard her say that she might make one or two for it.  Did I mention that it matches my Bordello Emily bag!  Then she dragged in a full laundry basket FULL of Destash yarn, I may have snagged one or two.

Tomorrow, 3 more knitters will be decending on the Tempted household for a weekend of dyeing and knitting fun.  Courtney, Laura, Muriel and little Ivie will be here too and I expect a wonderful time will be had by all. :-))

Wishing you all happy knitting!

Fun with Fiber and Friends

I have been incredibly blessed with wonderful knitting friends.  Last spring Kaye, Del and I went to St. Louis to the Loopy Ewe's Spring Fling and one of the great friends we made is Keri of 3am Enchantments.  She drove down and spent a few days here this week.  She was kind enough to bring me one of her bags and a chocolate creme pie, well not just me I did share with my family, Del and Kaye (she brought bags for Del and Kaye too).

Isn't this a great bag!!  Perfect size for a small project or all my little knitting gadgets, right now it is holding a sock in progress.  I love her attention to detail, you can't see it in this picture but it has a coffee bean zipper pull, seriously how cute is that.  I will say that you might want to keep an eye on her stuff on The Loopy Ewe... just saying (way past seriously cute).

I had a house full of knitting buddies here on Wednesday and it was so much fun!  We laughed, knitted, shared, talked, ate and did a little spinning.  You all know how I love Del and Kaye's weekly visits and having Keri here just added to the fun.  Everyone got to share all their new acquisitions and projects they are working on.  Keri got to show off her new wheel, and all the yarn she has made since she received it 5 days earlier.  Del seamed up a couple of sweaters for her granddaughters and cast-on her Blanket Coat.  Kaye was showing us the progress she has made on her various knitting projects, she has a few on the needles.  I showed off a few new books and the bunny yarn.  BTW I am still taking entries in the contest and probably will for a few more weeks.

On Thursday and Friday Keri and I did some serious dyeing!  We worked on the next Glam Grrl order for TLE and decided that wouldn't it be wonderful to have some coordinating colorways.  This is one of them, 'Jasmine Dreams' and 'Jasmine', isn't it pretty?

I have so many pictures of the dyeing and spinning that I think I will stop here and pick up again later.
